Hope for the Future of the Bay Islands
The Bay Islands may look like paradise, but for thousands of families, access to reliable healthcare is still out of reach. More than two decades ago, Clínica Esperanza began in a small home on Roatán with one mission: to provide compassionate, affordable care to anyone in need.
Despite this progress, the reality remains critical. Honduras continues to face one of the highest infant mortality rates in the region, and the Bay Islands rank among the highest in the entire country. Many mothers still have no access to prenatal classes, consistent checkups, or safe delivery support, services that should be basic, not a luxury. Clínica Esperanza is the only facility offering ongoing prenatal education, but limited space means too many mothers are left without the care they urgently need.
To change this, we are building a dedicated Maternal and Child Care Center designed to provide safer births and stronger beginnings. The new facility will include birthing suites, an operating room for emergency C-sections, and a neonatal intensive care unit, resources that currently do not exist on the islands. It will also give us the space to expand community health programs and bring prenatal education to families across Roatán, Utila, Guanaja, and the surrounding communities.
To make this vision a reality, we are raising funds to complete construction, equip the center, and expand our team with 30 additional healthcare workers.
With your support, no mother will ever have to give birth without proper care, and no baby will be denied a safe, healthy start to life.
Together, we can transform maternal and infant health for the entire Bay Islands.
